Dear
Editor
Thank
you for confirming in this article things that
I had hoped were true but couldn't find on other
more radicalized web sites devoted to Aztlan.
I grew up in a working class area of Southern
California and from before I could remember,
I had Chicano friends. They accepted me regardless
of my skin color, "white," and I loved them
and their families as their families loved me.
As time went on I moved out into the world and
I haven't seen my Chicano friends since school.
But every time I see a Low-rider a sense of
pride and connection courses through me as I
recall the birth of the Chicano culture and
the sense of community that was a only a street
away from my house. I still smell the home-made
Burritos that were always warm and ready to
eat in the houses I used to frequent. I can
say emphatically: I love the Mexican people.
Only through dialogue can we heal these wounds
created by those who sow the seeds of hatred
and separation. Your article brought confirmation
for me and now I feel at peace. You brought
tears of joy to me because the fearmongers rule
the airwaves spinning their lies, but now I
am armed against their lies. You brought me
back to a time when there was no doubt as to
the intentions of the Mexican people: Survival,
peaceful coexistence and prosperity... the things
that bind us all together. I can now discount
the fearmongers at every step!
Thank
You! - Tony

Dear
Editor
I
can't find the words to express my gratitude
for what you are doing with this site. You are
very much needed en nuestra hermosa comunidad
Latina and you are doing an incredible job.
I have lived in Pacoima, California (in the
beautiful San Fernando Valley) all of my life
and my family and I are long time supporters
of Tia Chucha's Cafe Cultural. I find it very
difficult to keep-up with everything that’s
going on in our community now that I have a
full-time job and I think this is a similar
situation for many others. In college one was
always up-to-date with everything, especially
if you were in any liberal arts field. Places
such as Tia Chucha's and websites like Xispas
are vital to our growth and education. Not only
do you have great writers providing quality
and informative material, but your entire website
is excellent and I am looking forward to your
success. Sigan adelante y sigan hechando Xispas!

Dear
Editor
I
wanted to write to you in regards to the article
by Rubi Mendoza (“Cinco
de Mayo”). I just wanted to tell you how
much I enjoyed her article. It was very well
written and definitely worth discussion after
reading it. Personally, I am sorry to say that
I was not familiar with the history of Cinco
de Mayo but I have always been curious. However,
I have never bothered to try to learn of the
history because my ignorance had me under the
impression that it would be a long drawn out
history lesson. I am happy to say that I was
wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed reading her article.
The reason why I am writing is I had heard of
your website and decided to check it out. After
I had read the article, one of my fellow employees
had made a comment saying, “What is the significance
of Cinco De Mayo". Thankful to say I had an
answer to blow them away thanks to Rubi Mendoza's
article. Your website should be commended for
putting the extra emphasis in Chicano culture
and arts.
Thank
you, Deborah Mendaros
